WELL, Y'ALL...

I'm diving into this blog world HEAD first. I've always wanted to do a blog, or start a youtube channel, but I always wondered if anyone would listen. Then I realized, this blog is for ME. The readers will come with time, but I'm excited to share more about myself with you guys so you can get to know the blogger behind the keyboard :)

Facts About Me

1. My name is Rachel and I am working every day to get closer and closer to Christ! I love reading the book Jesus Calling and praying with my man to keep me on track.

2. My favorite color is pink (and sparkles, if thats a color?)

3. I am a total mama's girl and always have been! Growing up just made my mom and I closer and we were best friends ever since I can remember. I recently lost my mom, and it has been one of the toughest journeys that God has sent me on. But thank the Lord for my man and my sisters and brother. Without them, it would be near impossible to get through this!

4. My man's name is Derek. We met when I was moving off to college and needed a new phone. I walked into the store and he was the one who sold me the phone. I never expected to meet my husband that day (obviously, because I had no makeup on, was wearing a tank top and shorts, and had crimped hair from braids the night before) but thank you GOD for bringing us to each other. He is so loving, funny, compassionate, has an AMAZING work ethic, and so many more things that I cannot even begin to put in words. Ill have to dedicate a whole blog post to how we met one day.

5. I have 2 sisters and 1 brother. I fall right in the middle of them! I also have an awesome brother in law and 2 adorable nieces.

6. I am a total girly girl. I love makeup, I love hair, I love fashion. I watch youtube makeup artists on a daily basis. And I think it's so fun!

7. I feel so relaxed when our home is clean! I am the one who does almost all the cleaning (I can't take credit for it all the time), but I also am the one who's home all the time! I love when our home is clean, because it looks so peaceful!

8. I really like warm weather. Like, I REALLY like it. But I also adore the fall time (mostly the fashion and makeup ;). But I also love the cozy feeling of the winter time when it's snowing outside and we sit inside under a blanket with the fireplace on drinking hot cocoa.

9. I am a nursing major! I believe that the profession is very honorable, and my mom was a nurse for 40 years, which makes me even more excited to follow in her footsteps. But above all of that, I feel that my calling is to take care of people. It is my passion to take care of others, and nursing is the perfect career that captures my personality. I spent a 12 month period (in my senior year of high school) doing an internship in the NICU at the Rocky Mountain Children's Hospital in Denver, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I learned so much and my passion for nursing only grew (despite passing out a couple of times. Oops!)

10. I am so excited to marry the man of my dreams. God blessed me with the best man he has, I am certain of it :) I am also looking forward to possibly doing a wedding bells series (or something like that) when we are planning the wedding. I think that would be so fun to share with you guys!

11. I cannot wait to have babies! I am certain my man will be the most awesome father in the world. I know that I was born to be a wife and a mom. When I was little and someone would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say a wife and a mom! I know someday babies will be the perfect addition. I am hoping that we can make it work so that I can be a stay at home mom. At least until they go to school. That would be an incredible opportunity, but we will cross that bridge when we get there :)

12. I LOVE COSTCO. Enough said!

13. I am a bargain shopper. My main places are Ross, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Home Goods. I love finding the perfect little finds, and I adore shopping for the home!

14. I love to cook. I think that is my labor of love, ( and I definitely take after my mama in this section). I can't wait to share some amazing recipes so that you can pass on this 'labor of love' to your families too.

15. My man and I have lived in 4 states in the past year. It has been crazy! But such a cool adventure. We lived in CO, WY, HI, and OR. That's right. Hawaii. And it was a blast. We went snorkeling ALL the time, swam with dolphins on a weekly basis, and I worked for Disney on the beach. There were some things that we didn't love about Hawaii that caused us to leave, including the fact of how far we were from our families. But we had an amazing adventure!

16. I am a self taught MUA. It all started with watching these AMAZING youtube makeup artists. My love for getting 'glammed up' only grew from there, and as soon as I knew it, I was learning every in and out of being a makeup artist. And I absolutely love it!

17. We have 1 baby! Well, a fur baby that is :) You thought I was going to contradict number 11, didn't you?! Well, he is the most lovely little bundle of joy. He has such an amazing personality. Here's our little Goldendoodle, Cole :)
