Friday Favorites!

Well, what an exciting week, y'all! I can't wait to hear what you were all up to!

But until then, here's my friday favorites!
Friday Favorites

ONE

Laguna Beach. That's my heart spot. If we're talking in terms of places, of course!

My brother has lived there, on the beach for around 20 years, and he's got a pretty sweet set up!

But it's really the town that gets me everytime. It's artsy, but it's not a cheap place. It's right on the beach, and has so many little nooks to explore. I absolutely love that you can walk everywhere, and it has some seriously good food. It's got gorgeous weather year round, and the views are unbeatable. The culture is very laid back and chill, and I just love the lack of chain stores ( no really, I do!)

Aside from it being so expensive to live there, Laguna Beach is the perfect place to live, in my mind.

We would love to live there. But for now, visiting will have to do!

Some of my favorite places to hit up while were in town are down below!

Nick's Laguna Beach

This place has quite an interesting cuisine! I'd say it's all American food, and I would eat pretty much everything on the menu! (That means it's not too weird!)
I've heard amazing things about their Fried Deviled Eggs! Doesn't that sound interesting? We head to Nicks for brunch usually, and if I'm not mistaken, I always get their Short Rib Eggs Benedict. Yum!

Sawdust Festival

Man, you're going to find some interesting things here! It's all filled with booths of crafty vendors making all kinds of things! They make shoes, jewelry, and there's even a glass blower (below)! That's one of my fave things to watch! Sawdust festival is kinda a local thing. But it can kill a couple of hours if it's in season :)

Gelato Paradiso

Just beware that this place is almost always a 30 minute wait, at least! But it's so dang good. I always get mine in a cone. And it totally helps that when you're waiting in line, you're waiting in this cute little brick lined alley. Not a scary alley! Think Venice or Italy. Lined with bricks, and a ton of restaurants up and down the alley. It's got romantic lighting. Ugh. Just gorgeous. I love the feel of this place.

The alley way that I'm talking about!

With our gelatos!

I'll end it with that for now. Because thinking about it, I could honestly do a huge post on all my fave places in Laguna!

TWO

My new planner finally arrived and I am LOVING it!

I mean, it got here about a week ago, but you know how you have to get in a groove to use it?

Finally found my groove! I use a color coding system to plan my day, and I plan it by Morning, Afternoon, and Evening, in a Vertical Layout. In case you didn't know, I have the Erin Condren Life Planner!

I use different colored markers for it!

Red = Food/ Dinner for the night
Pink = To Do
Orange = My man's work schedule
Blue = Blog posts to write
Green = Workout for the day
Gray = Memories ( I write a small memory for each day)

THREE

Okay, y'all. Real talk. My skin has taken a turn... FOR THE BETTER!!!!

I have dry to normal skin, but tend to get dry flakes and patches, and quite a few blemishes. But in the past 6 months, I've been getting more and more compliments about how radiant my skin has been looking! So, I'm sharing my secrets with you over here

Tried and true method ladies! But don't forget your cleansing device! I have the Mia 2 Clarisonic, and I swear, that thing has made all the difference!

FOUR

The Bachelor! Oh my goodness. Do you guys watch that show too???

Totally a guilty pleasure, but I watch it while my man is at work (he requests that I watch it without him... just so he doesn't have to sit through it ;)

So, let me give you some of my opinions from the last 3 weeks....

Ben is the Bachelor this season! Seems like a nice guy, a little sensitive, and seems to have a good head on his shoulders!

However. He got stuck with a few crazies this season. And I kinda feel bad for him!

Let's chat, shall we? I mean, I think most people really liked Olivia the first night.... so did I!

And no, folks. She's not mad here. She's just very excited... As Shaeffer from Pinterest Told Me To puts it, " She becomes a Howler Monkey".

But, anyways. From what is shown on TV, she seems pretty self centered, and has a weird conspiracy goin' on that her and Ben pretty much communicate through their minds... because that's how connected they are...
And, I for one, am just flabbergasted at her thinking it was okay to talk about herself when Ben just shared some very heartbreaking news! Cankles do NOT compare to death. So just step off your high horse there, Olivia.

Lace, who is also a 'bit' off her rocker, just actually left the show (by her own decision). But I honestly think it's for the better. She may have brought better ratings to the show for her antics, but her mind just does not seem to be there. I'm so glad she realized that she needs to work on herself before trying to find love!

Then, there's Jubilee. And she's a little bit awkward. At the beginning of her one-on-one date with Ben, he honestly had no idea what to think of her. She's a bit straightforward... but awkward. It's so hard to explain. But, you know what? By the end of her date with him, I kinda like her! She seems real, and not just acting for the cameras. Which would be refreshing! But, I'm still making my mind up on her completely.

What I do NOT like is how the girls (mainly Amber) ganged up on her to tell her how weird she was being. Like really? She wasn't causing anyone harm! No need to make it 8 on 1 and gang up on her! I appreciate how Jubilee handled it and just walked away. I can honestly see chemistry between her and Ben, and I don't think the other girls like it!

Most of the other girls I like so far! But, they also haven't gotten much screen time. I can't wait for this season to unfold. What do y'all think about it??

FIVE

My favorite piece of jewelry to wear these days is my Alex and Ani bracelets with my watch!

I think they just pair so well together! I have my 3 initials for my bracelets :)

They are so fun and they go with everything. How much easier can it get? I throw them on every day and I'm out the door!

Also, if y'all are in need of some easy food ideas, check out my Salads, Galore! post and my easy-peasy Cheesy Pasta With Veggies! It's so easy, and understated how yummy it is! I bet you have all the ingredients on hand!

I hope y'all have a great new week and weekend!

Makeup Mondays: How To Keep Your Skin Radiant

Y'all, one of the secrets to having that perfect makeup with a flawless application is to keep your skin healthy!

I know, you may think, "Well I can't get rid of my dry patches." or "My skin is way too oily for any of this stuff."

And yes, while it may be true that we typically fall into one category of skin or another (dry, combination, oily), there are ways to keep this at bay!

DRY

For dry skin, it's kinda obvious! Your skin is CRAVING moisture! Now it may not be realistic to eradicate your dry patches all together, properly treating your skin will help move mountains!

Start by finding a skin cleanser that is not harsh. Usually one that bubbles or foams up is too harsh on your skin because it's trying to clean out EVERYTHING. Thus, it's getting rid of ANY moisture that your skin is making on it's own.

A gentle non-foaming cleanser is what you should gear towards. One like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.

Also remember to exfoliate once and a while. This gets all of the dead skin off that could be getting in the way of your moisturizer.

Not everyday, as that is also too harsh for your skin.
But every 4 days or so, exfoliate your skin while you're in the shower! Choose a sugar scrub over a salt scrub, as salt will dry out any moisture left in your skin.

For your moisturizer, look at the label! Do not just get something because it's popular! If it says it's for dry skin, it probably has some key ingredients to help increase your skin's natural moisture!

Remember, we are all about getting your skin to produce it's own moisture. Compensating for your dryness will help this! A great moisturizer that I love is Renewed Hope in a Jar, Dry.

If you do suffer from dryness, consider using a serum or an oil before your moisturizer to really lock in that moisture!

I use the Tarte Maracuja Oil.

OILY

If your skin is oily, it may be hard to apply makeup because it slips and slides! Let's make that right for your skin so that you can look radiant and glowing, without looking like someone sprayed you with Pam!

Oily skin can produce a lot of clogged pores, so you need to get a deep cleansing wash to clean your face with daily.

One that foams and really gets out that grime will be perfect for you!

Purity face wash is gentle, but still gets everything out!

I know it's hard to believe, but when you're oily, that means you need to moisturize!!!
Your skin is overproducing oils because it is trying to get more moisture into it!

Therefore, you need to have a diligent routine with a moisturizer to get your skin back to a more normal state.

Go for a lighter moisturizer that won't weigh your skin down.

The Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion by Clinique is a great option! I love that it has a pump too!

If you feel that you need to use an oil on your face, opt for a light one.

Josie Maran's Light Argan Oil is a great choice.

COMBINATION

You will have to be the judge of this one! If you're more dry, lean towards my dry regimen. And the same goes for the more oily sided girls.

Just mix and match until you get your perfect concoction!

ALL

This is for everybody! These are 3 amazing tips to keep your skin and body in the best conditions!

1. Clean and Moisturize Before Makeup!

Do this 30 minutes before you apply your makeup, and you'll see a much more flawless application!

2. Lemon Water!

Drink an 8 oz glass of this right after you wake up and before you eat anything. This will jumpstart your metabolism and keep you regular. The lemon will also help radiate your skin. Add a tbs of honey if you want to amp it up even more!

3. Use Primer!

Use the right primer for your skin (oily skin use matte, dry skin use luminous) and pat it into your skin. Then apply your makeup right after. This will help control your problem areas and also keep your makeup in place all day.

I can't wait to hear how these tips and tricks work for y'all! They are fairly tried and true :)
