Cole: 6 Month Update

{ Cole at 4 weeks old. About 2 pounds}

Coley bear just turned 6 months old on April 24, 2016!

{Cole's First Christmas! 4 weeks old and about 2 pounds}

He's such a smart little booger, and we couldn't love him more!

We are loving being parents, and I am SO glad that we decided to have Cole first before having any 'human' babies ;)

Cole has taught us SO much about parenting, love, and responsibility.

He's a total sweetheart, smiles all the time, and loves everyone and everything!

So far Cole is VERY well trained.

He knows:

Sit
Stay
Wait
Look At Me
High Five
Shake {and shake the other hand}
Down
Leave It
Jump
Speak
Be Quiet
Come
Take It
How To Walk On A Leash
How To Walk Off Leash

I have to say. I was DETERMINED to have the most well behaved dog, because I didn't want our dog to wreak havoc on our home.

And Cole has been PERFECT! We honestly don't know what we did before him.

Right now he is 32.4 pounds, and is much smaller than the rest of his litter mates.

We call him Poodle Butt, because the hair on his tushy is complete poodle curl. But the rest of him is just wacky hair ;) And we love that about him!

He takes around 3 naps a day, and if you run 2 miles with him, he will sleep so well!

He is crate trained {yay!} and loves his room.

Right now we are working on training him to sleep out in the house during the night without coming up on our bed {not that he's not allowed, but he takes up a lot of space ;) }

He is 100% sweetness, and we've gotten several offers on people wanting to take him home {if you can believe that!}

We will decline those offers always because you are ours forever Cole!

We love you Coley bear! More than you will ever know!

And now be prepared for a TON of pics!

{Coley bear coming home for the first time. 8 weeks old and 3.8 pounds}

{Cole at 8 weeks. 4 pounds}

{Cole at 9 weeks. 4 1/2 pounds. As big as his monkey! This monkey is about as big as your hand}

{Cole sleeping at 10 weeks. About 5 pounds. He loves to be held like a baby!}

{Cole helping daddy open a package from Gpa and Gma. He knew there were treats in there for him! 11 weeks and 6 pounds}

{Coley all smiles at 12 weeks old! Only about 8 pounds here!}

{Coley at 13 weeks. He loves having the fireplace on! 10 pounds}

{Coley at 4 months! 15 pounds}

{Coley at 4 months. Same day as above. This is his fave napping position! 15 pounds}

{Coley loves to be wherever we are. So as I was getting ready in the bathroom, he was hanging around! He's 4 months and 15 pounds}

{Coley's first time to the ocean! He is smiling in this pic! He loved the water and we walked about 4 miles of the beach before he got too tired and wanted to head back to the car. 5 months and 20 pounds!}

{Coley at 5 1/2 months. Such a love bug! About 22 pounds here!}

{Coley loves to be held! And he's a total daddy's boy! It's the sweetest thing ever. I love my boys so much! He is 5 months and 3 weeks here and about 25 pounds}

{Coley trying so hard to fit on the bathroom rug. It's not even a big rug to begin with! He is 5 months and 3 weeks here and 26 pounds}

{Coley at 6 months! What a sweet baby! We love him so much. He loves to lay on our bed, and he loves having his own pillow! It's his fave! #allthehearteyes. He is 30 pounds here}

{Coley at 6 months! He loves being outside, and especially when daddy is biking on the indoor trainer, and mommy gives him attention! He is about 30 pounds here and as happy as anyone could be!}

{Coley loves to be held! Here he is being held by his sweet daddy. He loves to cuddle! He is 6 months and 10 days here and 33 pounds.}

{When Cole gets hot, he loves to be right at the air conditioner. This usually happens right as we step in the door from a run. So he goes straight to the AC and waits until someone will come by and hold him up to it. He is so funny! What a personality our baby has! He is 6 months and 10 days here and is about 33 pounds!}

Let's Talk: Moms!

If y'all know ANYTHING about me, then you know that my mama is my best friend, and one of THE most important people in my life.

So...

Let's Talk: Moms

My mama was amazing! Here's a couple of facts about her so that you can 'get to know her' a little bit better.

-She was an RN for 40 years!

-Her kids {and grandkids} trumped anything else in life.

-She had a dry sense of humor, but it could get you rolling for hours!

- She was well known for making soup out of anything we had left in the fridge {and no joke. It turned out amazing, but different every single time}.

-She loved to have parties and entertain at our house for any given reason.

- She LOVED the Lord, and I thank God every day that she decided to give her life up to Him, even though she was in her mid 50s!

- Her favorite foods were eggs. And wine. And cereal {at 10 pm}.

-Her favorite places to shop were Costco and Ross {and yes, that's exactly where I get it from!}

-She could make anyone feel like the most special person in the entire world.

So, now that you know more about my sweet mama, let me tell you about some of my most favorite memories with her!

-She put a full size trampoline in our living room for Christmas one year.

- We went to the pool every day after school to swim and play, and then we'd come home and have a fresh bowl of spaghetti.

- We would make enchiladas together whenever we had a hankering for Mexican food.

- She came out to Hawai'i to spend a week with me, and we had the time of our lives going to the lagoons, swimming in a waterfall, and so much else.

- I would come to her office every day to have lunch with her, or to go shopping with her after work.

-While at chemo, we would do manis and pedis!

My mama was one of my most favorite people. EVER. She still is.

Sadly, my mama passed away on October 7, 2015. Not even 6 months ago. And the pain is still so fresh. If you'd like to read more about dealing with grief, you can do so here

I will ALWAYS think about her every single day. And I cannot wait to see her and squeeze her again. Although, I have to say, I pray with her every single day. And it helps so much.

This song is now the song that makes me think of my mama.

As for my journey into motherhood, it's not here quite yet!

But when it is, I know that mama will be looking down and loving on the sweet new baby that will join our family.

And even though I wish she would be there to hold my babies, I am SO eternally grateful to Jesus for sacrificing himself on the cross so that MY mama can be in Heaven without any pain forever.

Mothers are the absolute greatest. So I cannot wait to hear about your mom, or your journey to motherhood!

Show and Tell Tuesday: Soundtrack Of My Life

I'm not sure how Andrea does this every week!

She picks the most fun topics that I would never even think of!

My man and I sat down for close to an hour picking out songs {because it was just that fun}. So with that, I hope you enjoy these 'blast from the past' songs and they bring some memories back for you!

Show and Tell Tuesday
Soundtrack Of My Life

Childhood
As a child of the nineties, my faves were The Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and 'N Sync.

I was the typical girl singing with her hairbrush as a microphone to those Hit Clips.

{In case you don't know, hit clips were mini boom boxes with 30 second clip songs that you could put in and play through headphones. You had to collect all of the clips. And I listened to Britney Spears "Stronger" about 2038576 times.}

What were my main jams? Whatever I had on CD's {Now That's What I Call Music CDs, to be exact!} No YouTube, iPods, or anything else but Walkman's back then!

"Call me crazy, but it a'int no lie, baby bye bye bye {bye bye}"

"I never wanna hear you say, I want it that way"

"Oops, I did it again. I made you believe. We're more than just friends. Oh baby"

"Few times I been around that track, so it's not just gonna happen like that"
{I literally learned how to spell the word 'bananas' from this song}

"I'm a Barbie Girl, in a Barbie world"
{Possibly the most annoying song in the world?? Sorry, Mom}

Teenagerhood

I got my first iPod when I was in 7th grade {and I still have it}. It was the purple iPod nano, and I just thought it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.

What were my most played songs? Take a look!

"Fergalicious, definition 'make them boys go loco'"
{Yep. I know this one word for word}

"Hey! Hey! You! You! I don't like your girlfriend!"

"G - L - A - M - O - R - O - U - S"
{Yes, I know this one word for word too. Apparently I liked Fergie back then}

"I'm not gonna write you a love song. Cause you asked for it. Cause you need one"
{This was the first song I taught myself on the piano!}

"So, So what, I'm still a rockstar. I got my rock moves. And I don't need you tonight!"

Adulthood

Oh adulting is so bittersweet. But music makes it sweeter, I think. Mostly because a jam session in the morning, while dancing around our home helps get my day started right ;)

"Show me what yo' mama gave"

"Sunday mornin' rain is fallin'. Steal some covers share some skin"
{To be fair, I've been a Maroon 5 fanatic since I came out of the womb}

"Ooooo I had the time of my life"

"Open up the champagne, POP! It's my house, come on turn it up!"

"I want to know what makes your world go round"
{One of my songs with my man. Had to add one in, but I could literally make an entire post on all of our songs!}

I hope y'all enjoyed this post. Maybe you found some new songs, or maybe you found some that you used to love too!

Either way, we had a wonderful time doing this together!

Friday Favorites!

Friday Favorites! Woohoo!

Y'all ready for this?!

Friday Favorites!

ONE
Well... sadly, I have to start off with one that's NOT my favorite. #boo.

Anyone else get caught with the crappy cold that's going around right now?  Because I sure did! I'm just trying to make sure I don't pass it off to my man.

Because yuck.

Hoping this passes quickly! #nyquiltotherescue

TWO
Now that that's out of the way, let's move on to my favorite posts from this week!

Not sure if you guys caught this, but I posted A Day In The Life post this week for all of you curious girls!

We had fun just showing you around a typical relaxing weekend day :)

As far as recipes go, you know I couldn't skip out on that! Here's what else I shared with you this week!

3 cheers for yum!

And...
Those babies disappeared  quickly!

THREE
This gorgeous weather has been my new favorite! Cole has been loving it too. His favorite spot to lay down is out on the porch.

Or hanging his whole head out of the car. This is his absolute favorite part about going for a car ride!

And yes, those pics show 'not so nice' weather... but he does this every single day anyways ;)

FOUR
My next favorite? Looking at new bed sets!

We sold all of our things to come back to the mainland from Hawaii... so we've had a bed {because I made sure that was the first thing we bought. Mama ain't sleepin' on the floor} since the first week we moved here... but it looks so bare without a bed set!

I'm thinking about going with a classic deep brown wood. I want something very warm that makes you want to climb into bed.

Plus, deep brown pretty much goes with anything if we ever decide to change our decor up. Right now our decor is a halfway point between farmhouse and cabin decor.

FIVE
Last, but certainly not least....

Nursing school!

I am applying to several as we speak for the upcoming fall semester.

I am so excited to be following my dream, even after the incredibly eventful turn that my year life has taken.

Life becomes so much more exciting with goals in mind!

I don't want to share what schools I'm applying to, but I will tell you, that this is a huge load of work!

But so worth it :)

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!
