How To: Pick the Best Watermelon!

I was so surprised when I went to the store this past weekend.

I was doin' a bit of people watching {aka waiting in line} while I was going to pick out my watermelon.

I let the people standing in front of me pick theirs first, and when a spot cleared up around the bin, I went in for the perfect watermelon!

But before I got up there, I noticed people were just picking a random watermelon and walking away with it.

WHAT?!!

I guess I thought everyone knew about how to pick a good watermelon, but that's not the case!

Watermelon's color really is not dependent on how yummy it is on the inside!

 {Except this, if you roll the watermelon over and look at the white spot on the bottom, the more yellow the 'white spot' is, the sweeter it's going to be. But the green part, which is what most people look at, is not really dependent on the taste.}

So take my tried and true tip to make sure you're not walking away with a mushy, flavorless watermelon!

How To: Pick the Best Watermelon!

1. Take your fist, and knock on the watermelon like you're knocking on someone's door.

"Knock knock knock, anyone home??"

2. The more hollow it sounds, the better it's going to be.

"No one's home?!"

3. Pick the most hollow sounding watermelon, and bring it home for your precious family!

"Well, if no one's home, guess I'll take this one!"

Bonus Tip: If you see little pinholes or scratch marks on your watermelon {they can be hard to see}, that means that bees were putting their stinger into the watermelon because it's sweet! So pinholes = sweet watermelons!

Easy peasy, lemon squeezy!

Friday Favorites!

Here we are again! Welcome back, ladies!

I hope y'all have been joining me throughout the week. I love seeing your 'faces' pop up in my comments section!

Alrighty. Are you ready to hear my favorites from the 10th week in the year?? Crazy!

Friday Favorites

ONE

Bath and Body Works....

Do I even really need to say much more??

I love love LOVE coordinating our home with decor and scents.

Bath and Body Works is the place to do that!

I love their candles, but sadly I don't have any on hand. I just hate how expensive they are. But I've yet to find another brand that I love just as much, but without the price tag.
Anyone have any suggestions??

But, that being said, their soaps were on sale this week! So these are the DELICIOUS smelling kinds I got :)

{Island Margarita, Mango Dragonfruit, Fresh Watermelon Lemonade, Salted Pineapple Punch}

Let me just ask... how is it possible that the names of SOAP are making my mouth water so much???

Spring/Summer here we come!

TWO

So we literally bring Cole everywhere with us. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that I'm a softie mama ;)

So, we brought him to the park the other day, and this pic is of him refusing to get in the swing. And I don't blame him. Ha!

I think park days are going to be a new favorite of ours in the summer!

Also, I have a Day In The Life post coming up all about what else we did on this day! It's nothing crazy, but it'll be fun for those of you who are curious about our life out there. So, keep an eye out for that coming next week!

THREE

Woohoo! Hair appointment coming up! But I think I need some ideas.

I'm currently in that 'awkward in between' stage of growing out my hair from an A-line bob.

It's just a smidge past my shoulders right now, and I'm totally getting the itch to cut it back to that short length again. It just looked so fresh, adorable, and I hardly ever had to style it.

Here's the issue with that. I've always wanted to try long hair! Not sure that it'll look good on me, but I am trying to grow it out for our wedding so that I have more hair to work with under the veil!

I'm thinking I want long loose waves at our wedding, so cutting it short may not be the best decision.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I also know that I want to keep my light blonde hair up top {that's my natural color, and going darker is very harsh on me}, but not sure if I want to do a fun color underneath my hair?! Hmmm... decisions!

FOUR

So, y'all, I have some pretty fun recipes coming up for you in the next few weeks. They're scrumptious, easy, and totally hubby approved! But until those get here, let me show you the one I've shared with you this week!

FIVE

Easter candy, y'all. I couldn't help myself.

Ugh. And now I'm paying for it.

I picked these up the other day at Target. I LOVE the creme eggs. My total favorite!

SIX

Okay, so if any of y'all have ever walked the streets of Santa Monica, or LA, or many of the places in California, you may have tried this fruit.

And if you haven't tried it, you need to.

It may not be so kid friendly, just because kiddos are picky, but it would be a great 'grown up treat' ;)

And hey, more power to ya if your little ones are willing to try this!

Tajin and Lime Fruit

This is what it looks like when you get it from a street vendor.

Basically it's a bunch of cut up fruit tossed in some lime juice and Tajin. And yes, you can find Tajin in the grocery store!

Enjoy your 'exotic' new treat ;)

SEVEN

Infused water.

Yes!

Okay, so I love water anyways. You might think I'm crazy, but I cannot get enough water. I usually drink around a gallon a day.

Because I like it.

But, I have been trying out some infused water. And it makes it much more flavorful!

My fave? Mint and lemon juice.

But you can try a bunch!

I've heard a lot of people like to add blackberries, and strawberries, and even vanilla beans!

Tell me what you like to have in your water. I'd love to know!

#Summer

Have a wonderful weekend, y'all!

Friday Favorites!

Well, ladies... another week closer to summer ;) We had a half gloomy, half gorgeous week!

And let me tell you, that little taste of spring and summer weather got me so excited!

I'm just trying to reason with myself and not break out my wedges just yet!

Friday Favorites
ONE

Have you guys seen my most recent post on how to make your own wreath? Okay, I just totally think it turned out adorable! It definitely took me more than 20 minutes {which is what some of the tutorials I was watching said it would take}, but it was so worth it! I've already gotten so many complements on it!

If you make one, let me know! I'd love to see it!

TWO

So, does anyone know anything about hair extensions?? I've been seriously looking into getting a set {not from a stylist}, but I can't tell if my hair is long enough for it yet. Does anyone have any serious suggestions on hair extensions?

Here's what I would love for my hair to look like:

And this is what my hair looks like now. Oh how I hate those awkward hair stages of growing it out! Ugh.

THREE

So, as for some good food this week {because if you know me at all, you know I love to cook for my family}, let me share some of my favorites!

My Cran-Apple Raspberry Pecan Salad. Um, can you say YUMMY?!!?!?! I couldn't get enough of this salad. I actually just decided that I'm having one tonight :)

Owen's Chicken Fajitas. These aren't on the menu for this week, but they sure are for next week! My mouth is literally watering just sitting here talking about it!

Make these recipes, and I promise you will not regret it! And neither will your family!

FOUR

Okay... kinda random. But has anyone else ever had these oranges?!! These are the best oranges I've ever had! I've pretty much eaten the whole bag myself. #Oops

I got mine at Trader Joes, but I've also heard they are at Walmart!

Speaking of Trader Joes, we also like their beef and broccoli and their orange chicken!

FIVE

Home decorating. That is my total fave!

Marshalls and Hobby Lobby definitely have the best deals always. But my best recommendation for everyone?

Fresh flowers. It has made our home so much more lively. And I love it!

I'm praying for y'all to have the most wonderful week!
