Y'all, one of the secrets to having that perfect makeup with a flawless application is to keep your skin healthy!
I know, you may think, "Well I can't get rid of my dry patches." or "My skin is way too oily for any of this stuff."
And yes, while it may be true that we typically fall into one category of skin or another (dry, combination, oily), there are ways to keep this at bay!
DRY
For dry skin, it's kinda obvious! Your skin is CRAVING moisture! Now it may not be realistic to eradicate your dry patches all together, properly treating your skin will help move mountains!
Start by finding a skin cleanser that is not harsh. Usually one that bubbles or foams up is too harsh on your skin because it's trying to clean out EVERYTHING. Thus, it's getting rid of ANY moisture that your skin is making on it's own.
A gentle non-foaming cleanser is what you should gear towards. One like Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
Also remember to exfoliate once and a while. This gets all of the dead skin off that could be getting in the way of your moisturizer.
Not everyday, as that is also too harsh for your skin.
But every 4 days or so, exfoliate your skin while you're in the shower! Choose a sugar scrub over a salt scrub, as salt will dry out any moisture left in your skin.
For your moisturizer, look at the label! Do not just get something because it's popular! If it says it's for dry skin, it probably has some key ingredients to help increase your skin's natural moisture!
Remember, we are all about getting your skin to produce it's own moisture. Compensating for your dryness will help this! A great moisturizer that I love is Renewed Hope in a Jar, Dry.

If you do suffer from dryness, consider using a serum or an oil before your moisturizer to really lock in that moisture!
I use the Tarte Maracuja Oil.
OILY
If your skin is oily, it may be hard to apply makeup because it slips and slides! Let's make that right for your skin so that you can look radiant and glowing, without looking like someone sprayed you with Pam!
Oily skin can produce a lot of clogged pores, so you need to get a deep cleansing wash to clean your face with daily.
One that foams and really gets out that grime will be perfect for you!
Purity face wash is gentle, but still gets everything out!

I know it's hard to believe, but when you're oily, that means you need to moisturize!!!
Your skin is overproducing oils because it is trying to get more moisture into it!
Therefore, you need to have a diligent routine with a moisturizer to get your skin back to a more normal state.
Go for a lighter moisturizer that won't weigh your skin down.
The Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion by Clinique is a great option! I love that it has a pump too!

If you feel that you need to use an oil on your face, opt for a light one.
Josie Maran's Light Argan Oil is a great choice.

COMBINATION
You will have to be the judge of this one! If you're more dry, lean towards my dry regimen. And the same goes for the more oily sided girls.
Just mix and match until you get your perfect concoction!
ALL
This is for everybody! These are 3 amazing tips to keep your skin and body in the best conditions!
1. Clean and Moisturize Before Makeup!
Do this 30 minutes before you apply your makeup, and you'll see a much more flawless application!
2. Lemon Water!
Drink an 8 oz glass of this right after you wake up and before you eat anything. This will jumpstart your metabolism and keep you regular. The lemon will also help radiate your skin. Add a tbs of honey if you want to amp it up even more!
3. Use Primer!
Use the right primer for your skin (oily skin use matte, dry skin use luminous) and pat it into your skin. Then apply your makeup right after. This will help control your problem areas and also keep your makeup in place all day.
I can't wait to hear how these tips and tricks work for y'all! They are fairly tried and true :)
